Daily Devotion-August 24, 2015-The Elijah Factor or How 1 Man Made a Difference-The Flour and Oil Stays Full

Truth in Palmyra

1 Kings 17:13-16

And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.

Remember where we were from our previous devotional. Elijah’s brook had dried up and his raven had flown away. Elijah has spent some substantial time camped out alone beside that…

A Very Dangerous Thing to Do

Life Is Worship

The most dangerous thing you can do is…take any one impulse of your own nature and set it up as the thing you ought to follow at all costs.

Max Lucado – Forgiveness: Stay the Course

Sandra Brooks McCravy, Sandi McCravy, Sandy McCravy, Greg McCravy, Derek McCravy, Johnathan McCravy

Vengeance is God’s. He will repay—whether ultimately on the Day of Judgment or intermediately in this life. God can discipline your abusive boss. He can bring your ex to his knees or to her senses. Forgiveness doesn’t diminish justice; it just entrusts it to God. He guarantees the right retribution.  The God of justice has the precise prescription. Forgive your enemies? Ah, that’s where you and I come in.

“Do not let the sun go down on your anger,” Paul wrote, “and do not give the devil an opportunity” (Ephesians 4:26-27). Don’t give the devil territory or ground. Bitterness invites him to occupy a space in your heart, to rent a room. Believe me, he will move in and stink up the place! When it comes to forgiveness, all of us are beginners. Stay the course!

From You’ll Get Through This.

Jesus Made A Way

A Heart For God "Devotions & Bible Studies"-Karrie Wilson

Jesus Made A Way
Psalm 85:13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
John the Baptist was the voice in the wilderness, (Matthew 3:3,) proclaiming the coming of Lord, who is our righteousness. Jesus came down for heaven to earth, to show us the way into everlasting, (John 3:16.) His ministry upon earth was for one purpose, and that was to make a straight path to heaven for us. Upon His back He took our strips, upon the cross He was nailed for our sins, (Isaiah 53:5.) Jesus defeated death for us and on the third day up from the grave He rose, (1Corinthians 15:4.) The day of our salvation, not only were we sealed with the Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 1:13,) but our feet were place upon the path of righteousness, to walk humbly with the Lord, (Micah…

An Unfailing Blessing

Redbird's Roost

All of our errors and failures that
we made in the course of the day
Are freely forgiven at nighttime
when we kneel down
and earnestly pray,
So seek the Lord in the morning
and never forget Him at night,
For prayer is an unfailing blessing
that makes every burden
seem light.
